SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3)
SNAP-8 is a synthetic N-acetylated octapeptide modelled on the N-terminal domain of SNAP-25, a core component of the SNARE complex that mediates synaptic-vesicle docking. It is used as a tool compound in SNARE-complex assembly research, neuromuscular signaling models, and in vitro dermatological and cosmeceutical research. Supplied as a lyophilized powder, 10 mg per vial.

Mechanistic Background
As a SNAP-25 N-terminal mimetic, SNAP-8 competes for a position in the SNARE complex and has been reported to reduce complex formation efficiency in vitro, providing a non-toxic tool for probing vesicle-fusion machinery.
Research Applications
SNAP-8 is used in in vitro and ex vivo model systems to investigate:
- SNARE complex (SNAP-25 / syntaxin / VAMP) assembly and competitive-binding assays
- Vesicle-docking and neurotransmitter-release readouts in cell-culture models
- Comparative studies against acetyl hexapeptide-8 and related SNAP-25 mimetics
- Skin-permeability and topical-delivery models (Franz cell, reconstructed epidermis)
- Fibroblast and keratinocyte culture studies
- Peptide stability and analytical method development
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized material at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Following reconstitution in a suitable laboratory buffer, store at 2–8 °C and use within the timeframe established by your laboratory’s stability protocols. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Handle in accordance with standard laboratory practice for peptide reagents.
