⚠️ LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY — NOT FOR HUMAN OR ANIMAL CONSUMPTION
This product is supplied exclusively for in vitro and laboratory research by qualified personnel. It is not approved by the FDA for any clinical, therapeutic, diagnostic, cosmetic, dietary, or veterinary application.

KPV

KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Retaining a portion of the parent hormone’s signaling properties in a minimal three-residue sequence, it is widely used as a tool compound for studying NF-κB signaling, cytokine expression, epithelial-barrier biology, and melanocortin-pathway pharmacology in cellular and preclinical models. Supplied as a lyophilized powder, 10 mg per vial.

Mechanistic Background

Published studies report that KPV can enter cells via the PepT1 transporter and modulate NF-κB signaling and downstream cytokine expression in epithelial and immune-cell cultures, independent of classical melanocortin-receptor binding in some model systems.

Research Applications

KPV is used in in vitro and preclinical model systems to investigate:

  • NF-κB nuclear translocation and pathway-reporter assays
  • Cytokine expression (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8) in epithelial and immune-cell cultures
  • Intestinal epithelial cell models and tight-junction protein expression
  • PepT1-mediated transport and cellular-uptake studies
  • Keratinocyte and fibroblast culture assays
  • Antimicrobial-activity screening in microbial culture systems

Storage & Handling

Store lyophilized material at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Following reconstitution in a suitable laboratory buffer, store at 2–8 °C and use within the timeframe established by your laboratory’s stability protocols. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Handle in accordance with standard laboratory practice for peptide reagents.
