AOD-9604
AOD-9604 is a synthetic 16-residue peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region (residues 177–191) of the human growth hormone sequence, with an additional N-terminal tyrosine. Because this fragment retains the lipid-metabolism-associated region of the parent protein without the receptor-binding domains responsible for IGF-1 signaling, it is used as a tool compound in lipid metabolism, adipocyte biology, and β-adrenergic signaling research. Supplied as a high-purity lyophilized powder, 5 mg per vial.

Mechanistic Background
In published preclinical work the 177–191 fragment has been reported to influence β₃-adrenergic receptor expression and downstream lipolytic signaling in adipose tissue, while lacking the IGF-1-inducing activity of the intact hormone. These observations make the fragment a useful comparator for dissecting which regions of the parent protein contribute to specific metabolic signaling events.
Research Applications
AOD-9604 is used in in vitro and preclinical model systems to investigate:
- β₃-adrenergic receptor signaling in adipocyte cultures
- Lipolysis and lipogenesis pathway readouts in adipose tissue models
- Fatty-acid oxidation and mitochondrial activity assays
- Comparative studies against full-length growth hormone and other C-terminal fragments
- Cartilage and chondrocyte biology models
- Peptide stability, degradation, and analytical method development
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized material at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Following reconstitution in a suitable laboratory buffer, store at 2–8 °C and use within the timeframe established by your laboratory’s stability protocols. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Handle in accordance with standard laboratory practice for peptide reagents.
