TB-500
TB-500 is a synthetic 43-residue peptide corresponding to the actin-binding region of thymosin β4, a ubiquitous G-actin-sequestering protein. It is used as a tool compound in actin dynamics, cell-motility, angiogenesis, and extracellular-matrix research in cell-culture and preclinical model systems. Supplied as a lyophilized powder, 10 mg per vial.

Mechanistic Background
Thymosin β4 binds monomeric actin through its central LKKTET motif, regulating the pool of polymerization-competent actin. The TB-500 fragment retains this motif and is therefore used to probe cytoskeletal reorganization, cell migration, and related signaling in laboratory models.
Research Applications
TB-500 is used in in vitro and preclinical model systems to investigate:
- G-actin sequestration and actin polymerization kinetics
- Endothelial-cell migration and tube-formation (angiogenesis) assays
- Fibroblast and keratinocyte motility in scratch-wound culture models
- Extracellular-matrix organization and MMP expression
- Cardiomyocyte and epithelial cell-culture models of cytoskeletal remodeling
- Comparative studies with full-length thymosin β4 and Ac-SDKP
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized material at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Following reconstitution in a suitable laboratory buffer, store at 2–8 °C and use within the timeframe established by your laboratory’s stability protocols. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Handle in accordance with standard laboratory practice for peptide reagents.
