Ipamoreln
Ipamoreln is a synthetic pentapeptide that acts as a selective agonist of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a, the ghrelin receptor). Its selectivity profile — with minimal reported activity on ACTH, cortisol, or prolactin release in preclinical models — makes it a widely used reference ligand for receptor pharmacology, neuroendocrine signaling, and GH/IGF-1 axis research. Supplied as a high-purity lyophilized powder, 5 mg per vial.

Mechanistic Background
Ipamoreln binds the ghrelin receptor and stimulates pulsatile GH release in preclinical models in a receptor-dependent manner, without the ACTH/cortisol stimulation reported for earlier secretagogue peptides. This selectivity is the primary reason it is used as a reference ligand in GHS-R1a pharmacology.
Research Applications
Ipamoreln is used in in vitro receptor assays and preclinical model systems to investigate:
- GHS-R1a receptor binding, activation, and signaling (calcium mobilization, cAMP readouts)
- Pituitary somatotroph cell-culture models of GH secretion
- Receptor selectivity comparisons against other secretagogue ligands
- GH/IGF-1 axis signaling in endocrinology models
- Bone-formation and osteoblast pathway studies in preclinical systems
- Ghrelin-receptor structural biology and ligand-recognition studies
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized material at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Following reconstitution in a suitable laboratory buffer, store at 2–8 °C and use within the timeframe established by your laboratory’s stability protocols. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Handle in accordance with standard laboratory practice for peptide reagents.
