IGF-1 LR3
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 Insulin-like Growth Factor-1) is an 83-residue recombinant analog of human IGF-1 with a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension and an Arg-for-Glu substitution at position 3. These modifications sharply reduce affinity for IGF-binding proteins, giving the analog enhanced and prolonged activity in cell-culture systems. It is a standard reagent in cell-proliferation, receptor-signaling, and growth-factor research. Supplied as a lyophilized powder, 100 mcg per vial.

Mechanistic Background
Because IGF-1 LR3 binds IGFBPs weakly, a greater fraction of the ligand remains available to engage the IGF-1 receptor in culture, which is why it is widely used as a cell-culture media component and receptor-pharmacology tool.
Research Applications
IGF-1 LR3 is used in in vitro and preclinical model systems to investigate:
- IGF-1 receptor binding, autophosphorylation, and PI3K/Akt and MAPK signaling
- Cell-proliferation, differentiation, and survival assays
- Serum-free and defined cell-culture media supplementation
- Satellite-cell and myoblast culture models
- IGF-binding-protein interaction and displacement studies
- Comparative studies with native IGF-1
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized material at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Following reconstitution in a suitable laboratory buffer, store at 2–8 °C and use within the timeframe established by your laboratory’s stability protocols. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Handle in accordance with standard laboratory practice for peptide reagents.
