KPV
KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Retaining a portion of the parent hormone’s signaling properties in a minimal three-residue sequence, it is widely used as a tool compound for studying NF-κB signaling, cytokine expression, epithelial-barrier biology, and melanocortin-pathway pharmacology in cellular and preclinical models. Supplied as a lyophilized powder, 10 mg per vial.

Mechanistic Background
Published studies report that KPV can enter cells via the PepT1 transporter and modulate NF-κB signaling and downstream cytokine expression in epithelial and immune-cell cultures, independent of classical melanocortin-receptor binding in some model systems.
Research Applications
KPV is used in in vitro and preclinical model systems to investigate:
- NF-κB nuclear translocation and pathway-reporter assays
- Cytokine expression (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8) in epithelial and immune-cell cultures
- Intestinal epithelial cell models and tight-junction protein expression
- PepT1-mediated transport and cellular-uptake studies
- Keratinocyte and fibroblast culture assays
- Antimicrobial-activity screening in microbial culture systems
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized material at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Following reconstitution in a suitable laboratory buffer, store at 2–8 °C and use within the timeframe established by your laboratory’s stability protocols. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Handle in accordance with standard laboratory practice for peptide reagents.
